JAH MON!

I would be remiss AND my 248 friends would be disappointed if I didn't include something Jamaican! I am including a Jamaican poem (go figure) and some pictures of "real " Jamaica.

One of my favorite sites to visit is This specific link will take you to Karen's poem titled "We Are the Dream." It is a beautiful poem expressing the majesty of Jamaica and the beauty of its people. Jamaicans.com is a great site to learn about culture, history, news and arts from Jamaica. It is entirely worth a visit, more than once! I have become familiar with some of the regular contributing authors (mostly poets). They are quite good and enjoy receiving comments and feed back via the Internet. Email them they will absolutely email you back.

Here is Karen McFarlane's Poem:

We Are The Dream By Karen L. McFarlane

We are the dream
We are the new generation of dreamers
Who live the dreams of greatness
Purpose and possibilities
We are the ones dreamt about
By Dr. Martin Luther King
We are the dream
Our lives
Actualize
Strength
Unity
Destiny
We are the dream
We are the blacks and whites
Who now unite
In commonality
Passion…with the destiny
To build this great nation
We are the dream
We identify
That our lives
Embody the dream’s cry
What we are not only the color of our skin
But the content of our character
And that’s what matters

We are the dream
Heirs to the promise
Of equality
Knowing we are equal
So we sit at the table of unity
Hands joined, you and me
We are the dream
We are the generation living the creed of equality

One nation, one cause, one GREAT dream
Creating the beautiful symphony
That we are now free
Pursuing happiness, having the liberty
To be and to live the dream
TODAY… WE ARE THE DREAM

Ah! How exciting to see you on Blogger Mr. Lalli! Sorry I have not stopped by lately, I’ve been so busy with all my school work… Basically making all the work harder than it should be, but that’s how I get my kicks! Been devoting a lot of my time into Engineering and Language arts…. Working on my inventions, ETD fund raisings (which you will see soon!), working on my Architectural Contest, writing my interest down and as always, thinking and doing too many things. That would explain why I have a C in Mr. Skarls so far! >_<

Good news though Mr. Lalli, I got into The Brunswick National Honors Society. (I get to celebrate my induction into NHS on my birthday, December 19th! What a present!) Hopefully I can get into the MCCC Technical one this year too, I certainly have a lot more experience behind my belt this time.

Wow, the irony in your dandelion experience made me laugh! It is true though, how beautiful life cycles can truly be. When I was a small child, I gathered a bunch of dandelions. I was amused by the pile of the brilliant yellow glowing dandelion, when shined upon by the suns rays. I thought that it would be a nice gift for my mom, but my mother was just given a vase full from my sister. I began to think what I could do with the bunch of them, while all of a sudden I noticed something interesting… I had a glass full of soda next to my pile of dandelions and I saw that the sun light that went through my clear glass made a light color impression on the ground next to it.

I got a glass of water and began to extract the yellow dye from the dandelions into it. The water began to get the color of Mellow Yellow and Mountain Dew. I observed the brilliant yellow light that was absorbed into the glass and then I layer the top with dandelion heads. I was about to give it to my mom, when my sister came up to me and said, “Josh what are you doing? Did you pee in that!” Well that totally turned me off to giving it as a gift, so I dumped it out and went on with my childhood, giving my mother the standard vase of dandelions…
